Office AV / Line Design Studio

The concept of the office space was developed for a young team of IT specialists united by a common idea and aspirations, which served as the starting point in the development of the interior. A large open and understandable space with monolithic concrete structures preserved in their original form is a kind of basic element, setting a certain entourage and tone for the entire space. And the erected structures and partitions have a specific functional load of delimiting office zones.

The Eiffel building is unmistakably the icon of the Sphinx Quarter. Situated in the dynamic new district in the centre of Maastricht it’s at the heart of where small business, culture, and urban living meet. After the building had been vacant for over ten years, it has been redeveloped into a location for The Student Hotel, loft flats, office spaces, and a variety of public functions. From a closed industrial complex, ‘De Eiffel’ changed into the open and hospitable heart of the new Sphinx Quarter. Braaksma & Roos Architectenbureau supervised the shell repair and coordinated the redevelopment of the building.

Greenway Office Park / modus studio

The client challenged the design team to create a modern, sustainable renovation of an aging existing complex of office buildings in Bentonville, Arkansas. The complex was a mixture of metal building and masonry structures in a significantly valuable location right on the Razorback Regional Greenway, a shared-use path running 36 miles through Northwest Arkansas. Cluttered and unorganized facades dominated the existing street presence of the site, however, the simple brick façade of Building One to the west provided a classic stock and backdrop for future architectural interventions. This skillful renovation and addition has extended the life of the Greenway Offices complex and created a healthy place to work.

The Slatted Extension / YARD

August 20, 2021 Alexandria Bramley 0

We were asked to resolve a problem with the layout of a house in the Whitehall Park Conservation Area in Islington. The house had wonderful high ceilings and well proportioned reception rooms, but the kitchen was very compromised. It was housed in an old side return extension and accessed through a warren of other rooms. It was too small and low, didn’t relate well to the dining room and was cut off from the other rooms in the house, accessed down a small flight of steps.  The owners wanted a generous, multifunctional family space where they could enjoy time together.

The residential alley as a central spatial element on site shows the differentiated relationship between public space and the private space of the apartment with a threshold formation on different levels. The alley makes it possible to walk through and to come into contact with the surroundings. The use of the ground floor at important locations in terms of urban development through public use as a daycare center, hairdresser’s shop or a common room  for parties is available to all residents of the neighborhood enabling public life on site.
