Renovation of SMOORE Headquarters Industrial Park / CM Design

Following the completion of SMOORE Lezhujiao Industrial Park, CM Design has recently finished the SMOORE Headquarters Industrial Park in Dongcai Industrial Zone, Baoan district, Shenzhen. Including the upcoming Liutang Industrial Park, CM Design practiced a series of “Urban Edge Garden” renovations of industrial park as the main project type in the past three years. From the context of urban village to urban factory, CM Design has developed a relationship and glossary that are more suitable for urban renewal, which were all contained in the SMOORE renovation projects with varying degrees.

Majiabang Cultural Museum / TJAD/Zeng Qun Architecture Design Studio

Background. The Majiabang culture, named after the Majiabang site excavated in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, is mainly distributed in the Taihu Lake area, south to the northern bank of the Qiantang River in Zhejiang province, and northwest to Changzhou, Jiangsu province. According to the radiocarbon dating and correction, Majiabang culture, which has a history of more than 7000 years, was first appeared in 5000 BC. The discovery and establishment of The Majiabang culture and its subsequent Songze culture and Liangzhu culture indicate that the Neolithic culture in The Taihu Lake area has a long history and distinct regional characteristics.

L House / Yuanxiuwan Architect & Associates

L HOUSE is a weekend house designed by Yuan Xiuwan for a family of three living in Shanghai, it was built on Chongming Island in Shanghai.The old house was built in the 1980s. The original building needs to be demolished and built on the spot.According to the volume and area of the old house, combined with the local soil regulations, the first floor should be controlled at the sloping top structure of 190 square meters, the second and half floors, and the auxiliary room at the first floor with the construction area of 60 square meters.

iADC Design Museum is situated at the heart of the Shapu Art District in Baoan, Shenzhen. The art district took an experimental urban planning approach to utilize art and culture as the main driver of the development of the city. The museum positions itself as one of the major cultural establishments in attempt to weave layers of identities into a new man-made district.

Qiseshan Quarry Garden Visitor Centre / United United Architects

Background：Regeneration of a redundant quarry
The Qiseshan Quarry Garden and Visitor Centre are located in a redundant quarry that ceased operations in 2017. As a result of intensive mining, the soil and vegetation in this area has been severely damaged over the years. With the environmental protection initiatives promoted by the local government and supported through investment from private capital, the subsequent ecological restoration has been on-going for several years. As a result the previous damaged land is now covered with greeneries, with a new ecological public garden to open in 2020.

Tianjing Zarsion Exhibition Center / Ruf Architects

The project is located on the side of the winding tributary of Yongding River. In an endless meadow without a clear definition of the external place, the relationship between the building and the place is the floating feeling that arises naturally. The design started from the roof, we tried to use symbolic architectural language to establish a connection with the historical environment. Imagining a crystal clear water drop that would quietly dissolve into the endless and winding river. However, with the gradual development of the narrative, metaphorical polysemy emerges.

Shougang Three Blast Furnace Museum / CCTN Design

The diesel engine plant is located at the intersection of Changdi Road along the Yangtze River and Industrial Road perpendicular to the Changdi in Ronggui, Shunde. It is the place where many older generations in the local area have a deep memory. Each building has its own distinctive characteristics. In the design process, we respect the “individuality” of the old building, and at the same time strive to adapt it to the future use requirements and re-give the old building new vitality.

Wusihe Central Kindergarten / Atelier Y

Wusihe Central Kindergarten is part of the One Foundation reconstruction program after the earthquake. Located in Wusihe township, Hanyuan county, Ya’an city of Sichuan province, it is the first public kindergarten in the township. Spread out on slopes of Dadu river tributary valley, the town is cluttered with buildings of mixed styles, without quality urban space. The design aims to insert the kindergarten as a brand-new feature to the town, to initiate enlightenment of its spatial character and to form a new spiritual and emotional center of the town; the child-friendly environment created will become a sanctuary of joy that children long for every day.

At the same time, it introduces unique projects such as ginkgo forest, small train tour around the lake, art museum, ecological bird island, and water village. It is committed to build a new city to experience future life with harmonious coexistence of ecology and nature, wisdom and technology, integration of art and humanity.The second train station is the end of an wonderful journey, and is also a complex space that integrates programs such as children’s club, reception, and exhibition.
