“Distinct – Discrete – Delicate”. These are the defining characteristics of this house. The project was constructed from the framework of an original house situated on a 3,200 sqm—plot of land. The owners consulted with us on what could be done with the existing house. They’re looking for a home that exuded modern character, spaciousness, and high privacy.

In Between Gardens Residence / A Threshold

April 19, 2024 Hana Abdel 0

Situated in the town of Tiptur within the Tumkur district, this residence occupies a corner plot measuring 70’x40’ in a relatively new layout, devoid of immediate neighboring structures and architectural context/character. Addressing concerns related to privacy and security, the house incorporates a protective random rubble black granite stone wall that surrounds it, which is sourced from a nearby local granite quarry, resembling a fortification. Within this enclosure, the house block is positioned. A deliberate interplay of materials and spaces defines the area between the stone wall and the house.

Located in southern Bandung with a fairly dense residential area, YT House is a residence that emphasizes the owner’s desire for privacy. The house, located in the corner of the residential complex, uses trees to maintain the privacy of its owner so that what is visible from the outside is only a fence and trees. On the other hand, from the inside, the outdoor view will immediately focus on the trees, not directly facing the street in the front.

Brief and Overview – The client approached us to convert a small storage space under their house into an ensuite, with a new extension that would function as a work-from-home studio and guest bedroom. In addition, they wanted the design to make the southern part of their property child-friendly and safe. The site had dilapidated brick retaining walls that were failing and unsafe.
