This apartment in Berlin-Neukölln is completely refurbished with a new kitchen, bathroom, floors, partition walls and built-in furniture that provide ample space and a fresh atmosphere. The precise new elements form a stark contrast to the details of the rough, pre-existing surfaces and exposed materials that are kept in their original state.
Named after its architect, the Villa Maillard is a landmark building on Avenue de la Marne heading into the city of Tourcoing. Uncared for and neglected for a long time, the Villa Maillard is now fully renovated and expanded to host eight social housing units in the heart of a splendid garden.
The first meeting Jorge had with the Camper team was in a warehouse in Binissalem, a small village in the center of Mallorca. Mainly used as a storage space for old camper shops that have been refurbished and updated, it also works as a sort of archive with custom-made pieces from Michele de Lucci, Gaetano Pesce, Ingo Maurer, The Bouroullec Brothers or Konstantin Grcic.
Redbridge is a new international school located in the heart of Lisbon, in the popular neighborhood of Campo de Ourique. The pedagogic challenge was ambitious: to create an innovative school with a human approach, that promotes creativity, the joy for learning and the openness to international multilingual exchange, where art plays an educational central role, children feel at home, valued, safe and happy.
The project of the cutting and sewing factory is an idea managed by women from the San Isidro village in the township of Puerto Caldas in Pereira, Colombia, accompanied by the community centre that is a neighbourhood organization that promotes educational and cultural strategies.
The original state of this two-storey penthouse had its main rooms on the lower floor, with a double height that communicated with the terrace that was little used as it is on the upper level. On the other hand, below the volume of the inclined pitched roof there was an attic, used as a storage room.
The DIPISUR cabin is located at the exit of Ciudad Guzmán with a route to Zapotiltic. The commission on the part of the client was to generate a cabin as a recreation area but which in turn will show the benefits of regional materials, using parota, pine and walnut, as main materials.
The plastic membrane of the structure serves as a medium for hosting collective interventions or simply moments of relaxation, such as a small concert, games or collective drawings, thus encouraging the social as a form of interaction. In this way, the inflatable structures behave like organisms capable of awakening the restlessness of the passer-by due to their lightness, materiality and surprise effect, characteristics that guarantee a sensorial experience propitiated by the environment and the public space. An atmosphere foreign to the urban space in which it is located, which produces the dissociation between the scale of the city and of a domestic area.
The main concept for this project was the restoration of an historical building designed by the architect Abraham Zabludovsky in 1954 keeping the original feeling, so the refurbishing of the apartments was always maintaining this focus.
On the ‘Leien’, the main ‘boulevard’ of the Antwerp city center, an empty post-modern office building is reconverted to apartments with distinct terraces. The ground floor office space is extended by new wooden construction and opens onto a quiet courtyard. The white color of the historic boulevard buildings is re-imagined in the straightforward and rhythmic play of the facade.
