Dezeen is giving three readers the chance to win a pair of books that celebrate the 150th anniversary of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
Today marks 150 years since the American architect was born, and to honour the occasion publishers Lund Humphries have reissued a new edition of Wright’s 1939 book, An Organic Architecture: The Architecture of Democracy. They have also released a new title named Travels With Frank Lloyd Wright.
The first title centres on four lectures delivered by Wright at the Royal Institute of British Architects nearly 80 years ago, where he discussed the design principles behind some of his most famous projects such as Fallingwater and the SC Johnson Administration Building.
In the talks, Wright also details his concept of the future and the development of cities.
Lund Humphries’ updated version of the book includes an introduction from architectural historian Professor Andrew Saint, who delves into why Wright’s work has continued to draw interest over the years.
Travels With Frank Lloyd Wright focuses on the architect through an international lens, documenting trips he took from his native America to Japan, the Middle East, Russia, and more.
Comprised of photographs, Wright’s own sketches, and conversations with those living in Wright’s structures today, the title explores the impact Wright has had on a global scale.
Three winners will each win a copy of both An Organic Architecture and Travels With Frank Lloyd Wright, which are also available to buy online for the respective prices of £20 and £30.
