Las Casas Trava & Quintero are two rehabilitation projects for the built heritage of the Santa Lucia neighborhood, one of the most touristy areas in the Historic Center of the city of Merida (Mexico). The aim is to transform them into two spaces for temporary accommodation, taking advantage of their privileged location behind one of the city’s most popular public squares due to its cultural offerings.
In moments where the traditional concept of family is being redefined, the project aimed to solve a housing issue that does not have a permanent use or a static program, for a family composed of 2 people who have children from previous relationships. The solution was to break away from the concept of a single-family box.
This house was the opportunity to experiment with materials that I was not accustomed to combining. The arrangement of the metal “w” beams and concrete bricks gave me the exact rusticity and precision to achieve this type of harmony.
“Casa Cumbre” is a housing project that aims to reinterpret rural living by combining natural beauty with modern sophistication and comfort. Located in the town of Las Quemas, near Puerto Varas, it seeks a flexible design that can adapt to different types of spaces and uses.
The plot of the house is narrow and has a significant slope. In front of the property, there is a natural reserve that covers part of the ravine and the river.
