FW JI·The Covered Bridge on Aqueduct / IARA

February 8, 2024 July Shao 0

The project is located in Fengwu Village, Biyang Town, Yixian County, Huangshan City. As the most well-preserved area of traditional villages in southern Anhui, Yixian County boasts rich natural landscapes and cultural heritage. However, Fengwu Village grapples with challenges common to many ordinary villages, including population outflow, aging demographics, and limited preservation of ancient buildings. In 2023, we initiated the rural revitalization charity project ” Fengwu JI”. By leveraging design, the initiative takes an international perspective, focusing on local characteristics and employing methods like micro-renewal and the construction of rural culture. The goal is to foster collective efforts, enriching and revitalizing the lives of Fengwu’s residents and the broader rural community. “The Covered Bridge on Aqueduct” is one of the sub-projects within this initiative.

Liangzi Island Off-island Pier / UAO Design

January 25, 2024 Valeria Silva 0

Liangzi Island is a small island on Liangzi Lake in Ezhou, not far from Wuhan. If you encounter rainy and foggy weather, the visibility is not high, and there is a feeling of going to sea. At the moment when I was waiting for the return trip to board the boat at dusk, I felt that it was necessary to give this island a spiritual place that symbolized “going home”, so that the usual ritual behavior of going to the island and outlying the island would have a little symbolism. I came up with a lot of words: “fisherman’s lights”, “lighthouse”, “watching the sunset” to find a ceremonial anchor for this project. These nice anchors and flowery scheme rhetoric ignore a very rational functional requirement – that is, the act of going to the island and going down to the island itself.

January 15, 2024 Paula Pintos 0

Due to its exceptional location in the tri-border region of France, Switzerland and Germany, the city of Neuenburg am Rhein has always been of special importance. As part of the State Garden Exhibition 2022, the town had the opportunity to reorganize urban areas. The site known as “Am Kronenrain”, located between the city center and the redesigned green space “Stadtpark am Wuhrloch”, played a significant role in this endeavor. The preliminary urban situation proved to be dissatisfactory with hardly any usable space and a height difference of around nine meters.
