At 1200 meters of altitude, in the Mantiqueira Mountains (Serra da Mantiqueira), a mountain range in Southeastern Brazil, the project proposes a conscious use of the local resources of the land and surroundings, to promote an experimental construction, sensitive to local knowledge and with a low impact on the environment. From this premise, the construction is basically made of wood and earth. Industrialized materials, in turn, were thought of to rationalize the work, ensuring the minimization of waste, adapting to the context of difficult access to the land and local climatic conditions.

Tropicario Bogotá Botanic Garden / DARP

Bogotá is the capital of Colombia, it is located in the centre of the country at 2,600 meters above sea level. The territory that the city occupies is known as the “The Bogotá Savanna”, a plateau that is part of the eastern mountain range of the Andes. The city is limited in the eastern area by a mountainous system known as the eastern hills and in the west by the Bogotá River. About 20,000 years ago this territory was a large lake that joined the hills and the river. Today there are only some traces of this past lake, the city drained the vast majority of wetlands for its urban development, going from 50,000 hectares at the beginning of the 20th century, to only 727, leaving only 1.45% of the original area. This deterioration is largely due to widespread ignorance of the importance of wetlands in ecosystems.

Qinglian Garden / July Cooperative Company

Qinglian Garden is located within a private property in Haiyan county, Zhejiang province. Within the enclosed property wall, the bespoke architecture design is composed of three buildings which are the main house, restaurant, and library, along with parking spaces at the rear of the property. The design scope includes outdoor space on the first floor and a courtyard at the lower level. The design philosophy is to construct a nature-resembling landscape while minimizing artificial traces. In the modern society, people are surrounded by man-made environments most of the time. One should take command of the objects around them, instead of being subservient to the environment. Therefore, designers wish to create a unique space where time will follow the rhythm of nature, uninterrupted by human activities.

The “Bobrowisko” project was created to make unique space – the area of a former gravel pit, transformed by natural succession – accessible. The concept of the footbridge located above the beaver lodges, together with two observation structures, is a response to the noticeable scarcity of public places in suburban areas, on the border of urbanization, immersed in attractive landscapes, available to both residents and visitors, walkers, people less abled and disabled and families with small children.

Overview
A unified response, for the new office community, that was flexible and adaptive to mitigate the many unsightly constraints. The layered shifting frames rise, fall and adapt playfully throughout the site to alleviate, conceal and simultaneously embrace these constraints while accommodating trees, shrubs and significant soil build up upon the basement structure. The design team wanted to augment access to plants and greenery, enrich the everyday lives of the users, and meanwhile provide a space for social interactions and flexibility for future operations.

In 1992, dinosaur bones emerged in Colona Bay on the coast of Bale in Istria. It is assumed that about ten species of dinosaurs inhabited this area. One of them is the brachiosaurus, almost the largest dinosaur that existed on Earth whose weight reached up to 30 tons and could reach a length of 20 to 25 meters. Due to their great discovery, Bale was included in the World List of Paleontological Sites. The Bale site, as far as is known, is the only site in the world that hides fossilized remains under the sea, and it is assumed that some are as old as 200 million years.
