Typeless is based on Hormuz Island in the Persian Gulf, South of Iran. It is a two-story platform for educational initiatives, with a building spatially adaptable to future alterations. Iran has a long history of using on-hand or discarded materials to create useful and even valuable products, such as carpet. Carpet-makers take an ordinary raw material like wool, color it with plant residues, and using creative designs and crafts, they turn it into the invaluable object that is carpet.

LIFE Campus / Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects

August 22, 2023 Andreas Luco 0

LIFE Campus is a visionary learning centre set to evoke the interest of children in the natural sciences. A sensuous high-tech universe that educates and inspires, where children can visit the moon before lunch and the core of an atom in the afternoon. From the inside out, LIFE Campus is learning. Located on old hunting grounds at Copenhagen’s outskirts, it manifests an interplay between nature and science with a STEM-inspired design (Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics). Visitors are greeted by ninety-six raw oak columns that reference DNA and Fibonacci – each stands nine metres tall and weighs over a tonnes. Inside is a digital learning environment with high-tech labs, a 360-degree projection hall and modern workspaces.

August 5, 2023 Valeria Silva 0

The McGrath Family Performing Arts Center at Loyola Academy is designed to promote Jesuit educational values and to inspire the creativity and imagination of students. Conceived in close collaboration between school leaders, students, and the design team, initial project development focused on understanding common goals through Ignatian pedagogy. In early design meetings, the client leadership posed fundamental questions: “How can the theater bring the Jesuit mission to life? How can it transform the campus and contribute to an enlightened academic experience for all students?” Crafted to intentionally resist easy answers, these questions drove the team’s architectural response and became the foundation for the success of the project.

Jingshan Flower Sea Tent Pavilion / Zhejiang A&F University Landscape Architecture Institute + Beeeed Atelier

July 12, 2023 July Shao 0

The Flower Sea Tent Pavilion is located in Jingshan, which is famous for its tea culture, forest landscape, and Buddhist mood. So, the design started from the thinking of the original relationship between humans and nature, with the initial intention which was simple and open. In order to create a primitive sense, we chose the form of a suspended roof, and the stretching skeleton and skin form naturally emerge, just like the simple tea sunshades that can be seen everywhere on the Tea Mountain in Jingshan.
