No.150 Chengfu Road / URBANUS

Lacking underground parking, the courtyard will be fully occupied by vehicles. In addition, there are no nearby public amenities, and thus the building is very isolated from its context. Our solution is to make the rooftop terrace a gathering area for young people. Based on this idea, the facade design strategy is to show an intent to connect the ground floor lobby to the rooftop garden.

Glacier Garden Museum Extension / Miller & Maranta

The Gletschergarten is located at the foot of a large sandstone rock on the Wesemlin hill in the north of the city of Lucerne. The origin of the sandstone goes back to a marine beach that formed the then the tropical region of Lucerne 20 million years ago. Since the Middle Ages, the rock has been used as a quarry and in the early 19th century, the sculptor Thorvaldsen worked on it artistically for the famous Lion Monument. After the uncovering of the glacier pots, which were discovered by chance in 1872, the glacier garden quickly developed into an attraction in the region around Lake Lucerne, which was characterized by tourism, until the turn of the century. The seventeen-thousand-year-old pots were gradually integrated into a guided tour for tourists fascinated by the alpine world.

Wisdom Olion Nursery / Atelier Archmixing

January 17, 2022 Collin Chen 0

Wisdom Olion Nursery is transformed from a long factory building. The client asks for many classrooms, but the budget offered is tight. Another challenging thing here is to provide enough surface for kids to have outdoor activities. How to have classrooms as many as possible without losing their quality? How to define an outside space for the activities? We start to develop the project by taking both the two questions that seem not related.
