A housing expansion prototype that aims to add a 16 sqm room, on the roof of social houses that currently have problems of overcrowding, as they originally have only one bedroom.
This new outdoor deck and enclosure are perched atop an existing rear garage behind a DC row house. The Owners requested a private space for spending time and entertaining, with shade for the intense summer heat. A 6-story apartment building sits behind it across the alley, exposing the back and top of the deck to all the windows units.
This project comprised a design intervention for a part of the client’s existing property. While in one half of the land stood the client’s residence, the other half was primarily bare save for a half-built 2-storey structure to one side and a central pond that the client had walled up. Although they wished to retain the existing structure, we were encouraged to update this extension to a leisure zone with a contemporary look.
The project for a “quincho”(*) and garage are located in a property in Los Cardales, a rural town in Buenos Aires province. The building is disposed near a row of pines, over the limit of the northern land boundary, completing the pre-existing delimitation of a central garden that is contained by the house in the front, and virtually bounded in the back and in the southern side by the pool and a grove.
Extension of the Quiksilver Napali campus, Saint Jean-de-Luz
After twenty years of use, the headquarters of the Australian business needs an extension in order to regroup their geographically scattered activities and to offer exhibition spaces, as well as communal and reception spaces. More than just a workspace, the new campus reflects the brand’s culture by offering a standard of living that is in contact with nature. The project’s efficiency is based on the plan which, beyond the simple distribution of spaces, is also in dialogue with the rolling landscape.
The “Loft Branco” (White Loft) is situated in the neighborhood of Morro do Chapéu on the outskirts of Belo Horizonte city. Planned in 2016 this loft has been built as an outbuilding beside the existent house (Casa Viga) as a result of the owner’s desire to renovate the existing housekeeper house and turn it into his office and possibly a guest room.
This project was a renovation and extension to a single fronted, double storey Victorian terrace house in South Melbourne. The existing house was long and narrow, and consisted of a series of dark, dilapidated rooms planned in a linear configuration. In addition, the site had numerous challenges, with limited access, 100‐year‐old two storey brick walls on both long boundaries and a site that sloped away to the rear.
The Cistercian monastery of St. María de Armenteira is located on the western hillside of Monte Castrove, a spur that separates the Salnés valley from the Ría de Pontevedra. Its origin goes back to the Early Middle Ages, probably the pre-Romanesque period.
