Strata Hotel was completed in 2007: a subtle volume of horizontal wooden larch sticks that peel off the building, run over it and seem to grow out of the surrounding topography. In 2014, to the neighboring Residence Alma, a guesthouse built in the 1960s got rid of an underused pitched roof, a previously non-existent vertical circulation and the dwelling for the host family were added.
Few programs have had the success and impact that the basketball programs have had on the unique culture of the Providence College Friars. As the program has grown and achieved success after success—both on the court and in the classroom—it was clear the College needed new, state-of-the-art spaces to support its student-athletes. The Ruane Friar Development Center (RFDC) at Providence College houses brand new practice, locker room, and office facilities for the College’s basketball programs as well as training and recovery facilities for the school’s wider Division I Athletics program. Beyond Athletics, the RFDC creates a destination on campus that captures the unique spirit of Friartown: “Us. We. Together. Family. Friars.”
Extension of hall and common rooms in a retirement home in Arbon, Switzerland
The retirement home in Arbon consists of several buildings erected independently of one another. By relocating the existing parking spaces to an underground car park, an accessible park-like exterior area was created to interlink the different buildings with a common identity and integrate them into the neighbourhood.
Traditional iconic Corsican heritage indulged with modern glass extension. The site is moving, when the gate opens, we are touched by the beauty and simplicity of the site: intertwined cork oaks, wild olive trees, a huge rock covered with lichen, and at the bottom, planted on a pile of rocks , overlooking the site, a small stone house owned by the owner’s family for generations.
As a continuation of Friedrich August Stüler’s forum architecture, the James-Simon-Galerie serves as the new entrance building for Museum Island, completing the ensemble between the Kupfergraben canal and Neues Museum. Together with the ‘Archaeological Promenade’, it forms the backbone of the master plan that was developed in 1999 and adopted as the basis for all further planning on Museum Island. The building is sited on a narrow strip of land where Karl Friedrich Schinkel’s ‘Neuer Packhof’ administration building stood until 1938.

In recognition of the 60th anniversary of the University and the 150thanniversary of Canada’s confederation, the University of Waterloo hosted Celebration 2017, a legacy project that embodies the University of Waterloo’s reputation as a hub for innovation and celebrates Canada’s spirit of diversity and inclusion. Starting with conceptual pitch stage, every subsequent stage required more detailed and elaborated proposal than the previous. Each stage also involved meetings with experts and stakeholders relevant to the level of abstraction. The final deliberation process involved detailed budget analysis, lighting design, and construction phasing.
Adding a studio and a spacious deck facing the silhouette of the Angeles National Forest we extended the home of the LA-based artist Kim Schoen. The existing 1930s house is located on a steeply sloping site in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The expansion proposal for Pé no Monte Rural Tourism consists on the construction of eight additional accommodation units, a swimming pool and a restaurant. The project seeks to articulate the new construction with the existing one and integrate them with the natural landscape.
The Tsinghua University Library is a landmark building on the Tsinghua University campus. It was initially designed by American architect Henry Murphy, and the construction was completed in 1919, followed by two extensions: the second phase of construction designed by Yang Tingbao in 1930s, and the third phase of construction designed by Guan Zhaoye in 1980s.
